Melbourne Central
is definitely the main shopping hub for young and old alike to hang out in Melbourne's CBD. An urban as opposed to a stylish feel is paramount. This shopping centre has had a minor facelift to keep up with the needs and demands of Melbourne shoppers.
Concrete and timber floors combine to meet some urban style, with a number of affordable, quality shops that enable people to enjoy shopping on a fairly reasonable budget. Wasn't expecting a garden space ambience in the chill out areas, and a personal stylist is also available upon request.
There are tiny pockets of that feels a little like a nursery with many pot plants combined together. A party theme is also evident with the colourful party lights throughout.
The top floor is well known for the Hoyts Cinema, where a bean bag cinema option is also available. La Premiere is not available. The level below Hoyts is home to a food court that has been re-decorated a few years ago with a more cafe like feel.
Otherwise the focus is on fashion as much as possible. is host to a couple of fashion events, where a fair few stores are on board for 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty - an annual fashion event that rolls around every September.
This shopping centre even has it's own train station, with trains servicing the Frankston and Craigieburn lines to name. train station is part of the City Loop service.
Never complain of being hungry here, due to the abundance of food outlets available. There is even a pet shop available, and many places to buy some funky mobile phone accessories. Popular brands such as Peter Alexander, Seed and Country Road to name have also set up shop here.
You can enter this shopping centre at street level from either LaTrobe, Swanston or Lonsdale Street. is right near the RMIT University, and the State Library of Victoria. Plus you can even enjoy ten-pin bowling here right near the cinema space. A great place to easily spend a couple of hours if you have a decent amount of cash to enjoy yourself.
