Harbour Town Melbourne
Harbour Town at Melbourne's Docklands is a revival in this popular leisurely suburb only minutes away from Melbourne's CBD. Harbour Town is conveniently serviced by the free City Circle Trams, as well as other Yarra Trams services to the CBD and beyond.
There is no indoor stuffiness here. Harbour Town is one outdoor shopping centre, and promises quality goods at factory prices - similar to their competitor DFO, of who now occupies space in nearby South Wharf. Dispersed over two levels with a roof, you can still enjoy an outdoor shopping experience in wet and/or cold, windy weather.
There are a fair few cafes to chill out at, as well as cheap clothing stores on the entry level floor. The Medibank ice skating rink is nearby too. Ample tall plants scatter throughout, like you're in an open playground - of which is true to form. There are more seats in this shopping centre. Definitely a relaxed vibe and ambience, even though not all of the retailers are open on a Sunday.
The only place in Inner Melbourne where I've come across a genuine kid-friendly cafe, of which sell these amazing animal cookies ($2.50 each), where a generous percentage of the sale of these sweet treats goes to the Starlight Foundation.
Speaking of being kid-friendly, level 1 (the highest level) is almost entirely devoted to the little ones. You have beautiful kids clothing stores such as Soda Kids, as well as a Toyworld clearance outlet with quality toys. Naturally, AFL toys are also available here, as well as an extensive range of popular board games that many generations have come to know, love and enjoy. If you're wanting someone else to organise your child's birthday party, then Monkey Mania is the answer to your prayers.
Hands down, you can buy cheap, quality Easter eggs here in May at 65% off retail prices. There is a whole store dedicated to cheap Easter eggs from Lindt and Cadbury.
If you're planning a trip sometime soon, and you're in the market for some funky luggage, then I highly recommend you come to Harbour Town at Docklands for such purchases. Even if you need a new handbag.
