Dirt by Earth create Scandinavian Style homewares and gifts in sustainable wood including pendants, night lights, lamp shades and storage boxes. Their prices start from $18 .
Started by Yenny Stromgren in 2010 while being at home with her two small boys, Yenny started to dream of designing crafts in wood.
She grew up close to the forest in a little village in Sweden, where her dad taught her to whittle branches and her mum used to make quirky gifts from birch and pine. Making cubby houses with pine and birch was also her favourite activity as a child.
Educated in and working as a professional photographer Yenny always had a distinct photographic style and really wanted to show these images on a different medium. So she started to experiment with ways to transfer her images onto wood, a material that is tangible and durable.
Although Yenny started with the idea of making accessories, she now has moved more towards gifts and homewares, such as night lights, funky lamp shades and clever flat packed storage boxes. All products are created with sustainable grown plantation alder wood and Australian plantation ply.
The name Dirt By Earth came from the thinking of how important the soil is to nourishing and nurturing the woods; the key component to Yenny's design and business.
